Here at Poplar Farm, we follow the National Curriculum for music.
Music is such an important part of all our lives and we firmly believe that through teh breadth of the curriculum we teach we will enable our pupils to make life long choices about playing music, appreciating music and exploring new sounds and traditions.
The National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 states:
Key stage 1 Pupils should be taught to:
  • use their voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes
  • play tuned and untuned instruments musically
  • listen with concentration and understanding to a range of high-quality live and recorded music
  • experiment with, create, select and combine sounds using the interrelated dimensions of music
