Safeguarding

At Poplar Farm School, safeguarding our children is the responsibility of everyone.

Mrs Hodson, Head Teacher is our Designated Safeguarding Leader at Poplar Farm Primary School. Miss Bowden and Mrs Thorpe are both Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leaders.

We have a governor who is responsible for checking our safeguarding policies and procedures - making sure that we are doing everything we can to keep our school and community as safe as it can be. Our safeguarding Governor is Laura Cook (Chair of Governors)

If you have any concerns about things that you have heard, seen or read, then please contact the school and let us know.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children refers to the process of protecting children from maltreatment, preventing the impairment of children’s health or development, ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care and taking action to enable all children to have the best life chances.

Our safeguarding policy below provides more information.

PREVENT Duty

The UK government has recently placed a legal duty on schools to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism.

In order to fulfil this legal duty schools must understand what is expected of them. They must be aware of the practical steps that they can take to implement effective safeguarding systems, and must develop a good understanding of the nature of these rapidly evolving issues.

The documents below detail the new legislation.
