History made as first ever cohort get a taste of school life

23rd August 2018

As September draws closer and staff prepare to officially open the doors to Poplar Farm Primary School for the very first time, new Reception pupils were granted a sneak preview of the school during two taster days on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd August.

Following on from the Teddy Bear’s Picnic, hosted the Saturday previous, pupils were given another opportunity to meet their peers and teachers during the two and a half hour sessions as they encountered an initial taste of school life.

Setting foot inside the brand new state-of-the-art environment for their inaugural visit, pupils experienced a range of classroom sessions including circle time, arts and crafts, storytelling and home corner activities. They were also granted the opportunity to explore the incredible outdoor learning facilities that encompass a mud kitchen, sand pit, water features, a climbing frame, tents and construction equipment.

Ms Lyons, one of the class teachers, commented: “It’s fantastic to see the children use this amazing space together. We are all so excited for the start of school.”

With so many friendships blossoming and confidence developing, those sentiments will be echoed across the school community as pupils, parents and staff look forward to the first day of school on Wednesday 5th September.
