Friends of Poplar announce record fundraising so far this academic year!

The Friends of Poplar (FOP) committee is made up of parents and carers of pupils who attend the school. They organise and plan events to raise funds to support projects going on within school.

What a TEAM!! Raising a record £1,790 so far this academic year, they say they are extremely humbled by the support from parents and extended families and wanted to keep you informed of their latest activities:

Halloween

FOP put together a Halloween activity sheet ahead of the half term break and pupils donated £1 each to take part. Alongside this they launched their first ever annual ‘Pumpkin Carving’ competition, inviting the children and their families to send in photos of their carved pumpkins. This fundraiser was not only a fun activity for pupils and their families to get involved in, it also raised £90 in the process! Thank you to everyone for your support.

Christmas

FOP organised the printing of personalised Christmas cards / gift tags / tote bags / tea-towels and mugs, for use for Christmas presents this year. FOPS spent time with the pupils helping them to design their Christmas pictures to be used. For every item purchased, FOP receive a donation. They were thrilled to receive £300 from the proceeds! Thank you again to everyone for your support.

FOP have raised a whopping £1,400 through their ’12 days of Christmas’ raffle! They appealed to local businesses for prize donations and were thrilled with the response. The raffle includes prizes such as beauty vouchers, toys, sweets, afternoon tea, ‘didi rugby’ subscriptions and much more! The raffle will be drawn on the 1st December by the children and the draw published on Class Dojo, as it stands we have 3 prizes per day to be won!

FOP Chair, Gemma Bryant said:

“The FOP team are so proud of our achievements so far this year. The support from families has been amazing. We are really excited for the raffle draws to happen in December, it’ll be nice to bring a bit of Christmas excitement amongst the children and parents, particularly as things are so different this year.

We are always looking into new ideas and hope that when Covid restrictions lift, we will be able to continue with the ‘Poplar Film Club’, where each year group is invited to stay after school to watch a film with drinks and snacks.”
