Poplar Farm pupils share their World Book Day with adults at school and beyond

9th March 2020

We invited a range of guests into school last Thursday to celebrate World Book Day and our passion for reading.

With an array of book characters filling the classrooms as pupils and staff dressed up as their favourite figures, everyone eagerly awaited the sound of the school bell, symbolising a ‘Drop Everything and Read (DEAR)’ session.

Residents from Newton House Care Home were invited into school to share stories with the pupils, the latest in a long line of gatherings between the different generations

Poplar Farm is part of the Multi-Academy Trust, C.I.T Academies, and members of the Finance Team chose their favourite books to share with small groups of pupils after lunch. A number of pupils were then taken on a tour of the C.I.T Academies Support Hub, sharing their own favourite stories with members of HR and the CEO, Peter Bell.

But, the story did not end there as a huge number of parents, carers, brothers and sisters joined the children at the end of the day to read together in a packed school hall. Thank you for joining us!
