Welcome to our Year 4 page!
Hello 4R and 4G!
Miss Rogers and Mr Goodchild are thrilled to be teaching Year 4! Alongside, Miss Rogers and Mr Goodchild, we have the amazing Mrs Tilley, who will be working across both classes to support our wonderful children. Also, the incredible Mrs Birch and Miss Whiting will be working in Class 4G.
Here you will find all of the useful information needed for this year. Take a look at our curriculum newsletters at the bottom of the page to learn more about the topics explored each half term and discover the key texts we will be reading.
PE
Our PE lessons will take place on a Monday and a Tuesday. The children should come into school in PE kit on these days. With the changes in weather being very unpredictable, please ensure your child is wearing appropriate clothing and footwear.
Homework
Homework will be handed out on the first Friday of term, to be returned by the Monday of the last week. Please aim to complete one piece a week, this can be returned in homework books or via Class Dojo.
In addition to homework, we expect the children to read daily, practice spellings and use TT Rockstars to support their learning. With the upcoming Multiplication Check next year, it is important the children are accessing TT Rockstars at least 4 times a week, for a minimum of 5 minutes. If your child reads at least four times per week they will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a book from our vending machine!
Reading
Children in Year 4 access books through the Accelerated Reader Program. They complete star reader tests each term to determine their reading range level. This corresponds to the books in the library, where children will choose their home school reading books each week. On a Friday, the children will complete a reading quiz based on the book they have read that week. You will be able to view their scores online.
Please view our Class Dojo pages to follow our learning this year. If you have any concerns or worries, please email the school office who will pass on any messages to us.
Thank you for your support this year,
Miss Rogers and Mr Goodchild
